I put in a request on

youkai_girl's round of this meme, so here is mine.

The first five comments will get their own drabble (~100-300 words). If you request something, please put this in your own journal (unless you already have).

I don't have time to write crossover fics (and they wouldn't make sense in a drabble, anyway), so none of those. I wil not write non-canon pairings, so any pairings you want me to write must be justifiable in canon (Ichigo/Rukia can squeak by, but Ichigo/Byakuya ain't happenin', sorry). This is to make it easier for me to write short fics for fandoms that I do not normally write for. Also, don't expect too much. I can barely do anything with less than 300 words to work with, so you're not going to get anything particularly erotic.

Please be specific about what you want. Give me the series/universe you want, the characters you want to be in it and some kind of prompt about what you would like to see happen (it can be very specific, like "I want to see these two characters fight over pocky" or vague like the prompt, "stone"). If you do not give me these three pieces of information I will ignore your request until you do. If 5 other fics have been successfully requested (whether they posted before you or not) before you add the necessary information, you will be out of luck, sorry.

The fics may take me a few days to finish/post. I am very busy with work this week, so I will do them as I have time. I apologize in advance for any delays. This meme will remain active until the 5 requests are made (however long that takes: weeks, months, years...).

I will write for the following fandoms and any others not listed here that are present on my FF.net profile bio or in my interests list here at LiveJournal (on the user info page). Keep in mind that fandoms I have already written for are ones I am more comfortable with and will probably result in better fics.

Probably not unless Ratri inquired about it (which he might to see Kai's reaction). Kai also seems to be a bit embarassed about his sexual relationship with another man. He blushes adorably just at the memory of things Ratri has done to him. ^_^

Aah, it's only part of his cute puppy-like charm. Also, Ratri seems to have a lovely habit of telling him important information during sex. I'm thinking he does it solely for the pleasure of seeing Kai blush (like he did in V3/Ch1) when he had to recall it. *squee*

WAIT I MEAN V2CH3?

The one where they're investigating the crime scene of the murdered council members? Indeed how deliciously cruel of Ratri. ^_^

He also does seem to embarass Kai in volume 3 chapter 1 by coming to Kai's room in the middle of the night to have sex with him. Kai looks so completely taken aback by the fact that Ratri is even there and so resistent to Ratri wanting to have sex with him there. It's so adorable (even knowing what happens next).

And then there's chapter 4 of Steal Moon where Ratri is discussing work during sex. Man, can't he leave the office discussions aside while he's pounding his uke? I know he obviously gets off on testing Kai's concentration abilities, but have a little consideration... Okay, it's great to watch, too. I admit it... ^_^

Yes, indeed that one! *giggles* Also, I absolutely adore this panel. Kai has s uch a deliciously uke expression (yay grammar o.x), which he rarely does, and somehow that increases his charm at least ten-fold.

Ratri needs to work on his boyfriend!personality more. It's obvious that's why he makes a good leader, but on the other hand, I wish he'd be nicer to Kai sometimes since he clearly does care about him.

It is indeed incredibly fun to watch. I'm sure Kai has proven himself the many times Ratri's done this, but I think that's how Ratri has his fun. (C'mon! The man looks so serious all the time, every single day. They've probably never gone out on a date even. Ratri needs to find a way to tease uke somehow~)

Well, Ratri gets away with it because Kai acts like a total doormat sometimes. He's "happy" with whatver Ratri gives him, even when it is accompanied by humiliation (getting slapped in front of Narada) or borderline betrayal (volume 3?). It' both his noblest quality and his greatest flaw. Ratri does tend to relent, though and judging from his actions he realizes what a prize Kai is (something Kai doesn't even see in himself) and clings to him in whatever ways he can. In some ways they're truly a "stupid couple." They're both so adorably insecure about a relationship that has been completely codependent since the moment the first sleep together. ^_^

Haha. It could be such an unhealthy relationship, yet it worked out so well for them? Or at least as well as it did.

Also, stupid couples are cute. Their joint idiocy is what makes them both adorable and interesting.

Sorry about that. I closed my eyes for a minute and before I knew it, it was morning. That's what I get for going to a concert and then coming back and thinking I could check my e-mail. =P

Indeed, it's how Tateno injects some humor into an otherwise very serious series. You'll notice there is very little of her trademark chibi use in AHnY (there's more in Steal Moon, though). Getting to see both Kai and Ratri act completely insecure about their relationship (Ratri is totally the jealous type and after Kai's initial betrayal has a hard time believing Kai actually wants to be with him and Kai doesn't believe he is useful to anyone and desperately wants to prove himself worthy of "at least" standing by Ratri's side) is hilarious.

Ah, it's okay. Besides, I still haven't replied to that stuff on the comm yet (because I'm so easily distracted. Me: ooooh Junjou kink meme *reads for three hours*!)

Tateno's chibis are so cute. I actually noticed for the first time Nozomi standing next to an Isis going, "..." and him sweatdropping. *laughs*

Ratri's jealousy is cute. I loved how he was like, grrr after Narada molested Kai and he had to keep his composure and stuff.

I'm kind of interested in a story where Kai would wake up to see a sleeping Ratri for the second time after sex. I think it'd be a very interesting premise, because I don't think we've seen them like that again until Steal Moon (at least as of the current story in AHnY...also, they seemed to have learned how to get dressed really fast, like when Nozomi called for them. I want that skill!) I thought it was very interesting that Ratri slept next to Kai the first time they did it since it would leave him so vulnerable, but I guess that was the extent of his trust in Kai? Also, because Kai had tried to kill him after that, it probably caused a lot of trust problems for Ratri afterward, so I think it'd be a sort of healing experience.

....and I might even write it myself! *cough*

Ratri is adorable. Even setting aside the overt possessive actions, like his angry-about-Narada sex, Ratri is incredibly insecure about his relationship with Kai. He met this great kid with a lot of potential and he spent probably months training him and getting closer to him and the moment he gets to sleep with him the guy turns out to only be interested in his sister (which by that point we can probably bet that Ratri knew "Maria" was his sister). What a way to hurt a man's ego. And we can't even fault him for keeping his distance from Kai long after the issues of the first two chapters are settled. Ratri still believed that Kai loved Maria, not him, and only stayed with him as a secondary choice (even though Kai shot his sister in favor of staying by his side). Even after they start sleeping together again (at the end of volume 1) there is no actual (only perceived) assumption of romantic interest between them (though I absolutely adored Ratri's "You should go home with 'that girl,' it'll be better for you--*kiss!*"). As Kai is the type to simply do whatever it is that Ratri asks of him, how is Ratri supposed to know what Kai really wants?

I think the thing with Nozomi happened the next morning and Ratri and Kai are simply early risers? Or maybe they had such fabulous reunited!sex that they stayed up all night doing it and then took a shower and changed right before Nozomi woke up and found Coyote gone?

I think Ratri starts his relationship with Kai under the same assumption that Maria had of him (and how she claims that like her, Ratri was also drawn to Kai's innocence/purity), that he was a genuine and trustworthy guy, which is really sweet and not that far off from the truth, but equally tragic for their early relationship. I don't get the impression that Ratri agrees to sleep in the same room with Kai after they have sex after that first time. We never see them like that, it is true, and it seemed that even through volume 2, Ratri had the habit of sending Kai away when he didn't have "use" of him.

I think it would be a great premise for a fic and you should totally write it, just like I should get around to finishing the post-Steal Moon Ratri/Kai fic I started writing last year. ^_^

What? There's a new HaruDaki release? :o *doesn't keep up* Yesterday, for me it was, "oh... I'm going to make a site for someone so she can make me a Kai icon" *points to it*

Even though Ratri is the king of Cold and Stoic, he's not very good at hiding his feelings towards Kai, is he? XD It's also kind of hard to draw the line between what is and isn't romance for them. They don't actually have the chance to go on dates (unless if you count getting shot at and blown up on a daily basis romantic... I'm pretty sure it's not, unlike what action-romance movies make it out to be), so there's a lot of interpretations in there for both of them. Does Kai follow Ratri's orders because he loves him or because he feels he needs to out of duty? Does Ratri keep bedding Kai because he perceives him as safer and easier than other men or because he wants to be with Kai? etc. There's other things too. Even though Kai chose Ratri over Maria, that doesn't necessarily mean he loves him more than her; we merely know he feels better morally to be with Ratri because Maria is a killer. (Random but interesting point: When Coyote suggests to Kai that they have sex, Kai tells Coyo that he's "too much of a solider." So he doesn't perceive Ratri to be like that?) Also, keeping Kai around brings Viharn around, so is Ratri more interested in his sister or his sister's ex?

Also, yes Ratri, great way to convince Kai to go home. I have to admit though, I still squee every time I read that scene.

Oh! Oh! I vote for the latter! Though I still think they have to have awesome putting on clothes skills. I mean, if they didn't, wouldn't it be kind of awkward if they had sex and then someone needed to report something to Ratri?

Ever again, or at least for quite a while? I think beginning volume 2 is still a little too close in time to the end of v1ch2, and by the way Ratri treats Kai, I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't forgiven him yet. However, By the end of v3ch2, when Ratri is sleeping in the chair next to Kai's hospital bed. I mean, clearly Kai has gone through hell and back basically because Ratri told him to and is clearly not a threat to Ratri, but it's still very symbolic. The only time Ratri ever seems to be very vulnerable (even when he's hurt) is when he's sleeping, so letting Kai see him like that again is kind of... I dunno? Like giving him forgive...ness. ooh, great job Kyuu.

Also, sorry for spamming this post. I mean, I'm glad we can have this awesome conversation (in two parts, apparently) about AHnY because I love talking about it so much and exchanging theories, but I think we might potentially be scaring away other people who want to request? XD

That icon is f'n adorable. ^_^ I only found out about the new chapter because I happened to have joined

youka_nitta a few months back and saw the announcement about the release. The only active scanlation groups I follow avidly are CT and Liquid Passion. The former for their Tateno releases (right now I am waiting for more Prince Sapphire scans, even though I own the actual book...) and the latter exclusively for Miyamoto Kano releases.

It's clear that Kai is willing to accept any kind of relationship he can get from Ratri, though it is true that he is ambiguous about what he actually wants from Ratri specifically. At first he is using Ratri, but once he realizes that Ratri did not kill his lover, he goes into "guilt" mode and falls back on his prior admiration of Ratri (which he had mentioned in passing that even before Maria he used to see Ratri on TV, etc. and had admired him). It might be that Kai simply sees Ratri's strength as something he wants for himself and is willing to do anything to acquire it. Though, that does not explain his absolute loyalty to Ratri and willingness to do anything he can to be useful to him. It certainly does not explain volume 2 chapter 1 where the reader is almost moved to tears listening to Kai talk about how he is not only not Ratri's lover, but also pretty much nothing to him (neither friend nor enemy). By Steal Moon, though, it seems that have developed a balance in their relationship, so much so that they can even joke about Maria. I don't think that Kai sees Ratri as a "soldier" at all. I believe he means that Coyote has a sense of "duty" and "follows orders" regardless of his own feelings and Ratri is more of a leader, one who makes decisions, not follows them. Ratri is also has an inner passion (that Kai knows very well), that even other characters like Yan can see. He's cold on the surface, but underneath he works for the betterment of all the people who depend on him (consider his words to the senate at the end of volume 2 chapter 2, "At lease I don't let my people die for no reason. That already makes me better than you," or something like that).

Ratri really bares himself open when he kisses Kai like that. It's baffling to know that Kai completely doesn't get Ratri's feelings behind it, either. They really are a "stupid couple."

I vote for the latter as well. We've seen quite a few positions for these two guys, but no shower sex yet. Hopefully sensei will treat us to some in volume 3. I do find it interesting, though, that we haven't seen them in the "missionary" position at all since their first time. Kai's generally either being taken from behind, or being forced into Ratri's lap (both hot positions, mind you). Their first time felt more like something romantic and afterwards it's felt more like something Ratri does as an act of control with far less emotion in it (until after volume 2 chapter 2, anyway).

I'm also avidly hoping that we will see Kai do some initiating. I wonder if it frustrates Ratri as much as it frustrates me that Kai is so very much a passive lover. Sure, he enjoys the sex and doesn't refuse it, but how is poor Ratri supposed to know that Kai really wants him if Kai never acts on it? Or does Ratri perfer things this way and isn't capable of handling a lover who demands anything of him? Is Kai just acting on some instinctive understanding of what Ratri needs to feel safe, emotionally?

Kai seems dumbfounded enough when Ratri comes to his room that night, and he seems completely taken aback to find Ratri sleeping in his hospital room. It's one of the most sublty touching moments in the series thus far, especially with Ratri's tender caresses. Usually he only touches Kai to prelude to sex; it is only in his weakest moments that he shows even an ounce of a tender side (like in volume 1 chapter 3 when Kai tells him he doesn't care how many people he has to kill to stay by Ratri's side, Ratri is totally swooned over at that moment ^_^).

Don't worry about the topic. I'll edit an amendment so folks reading it know how many requests have gone through. If people are too scared of all the replies to make requests it's their loss. =P I'd much rather talk about Ratri and Kai, anyway. ^_^

I joined that comm too, except I don't want my f!list spammed since I have so many friends, so I avoid having too many comms. Also, CT's head coordinator has awful organization skillz, but you didn't hear it from me. *cough*iquit*cough* Basically, for V1Ch2, I cleaned it in two days, and then it took him like three weeks to get back to me with the qc. o.x Then I didn't get the translation file until about two months later, in which he asked me to finish it in a week. T_T I was taking finals then, so I got pulled off that chapter. And then he never let me do any of Tateno's other projects even though I said I was a huge fan. *snark* ...no, I'm not... bitter or anything. *cough* Actually,

megori and I are trying to see if we can nag him into finishing the last two chapter of v2, if only for the fact that it being incomplete really bugs us. Don't get your hopes too high, but...it's better than waiting another year for June's release

*clears throat* Anyway, I think Ratri's charisma as a leader is definitely one of the things that attracts Kai to Ratri (whether romantically or not). Also, I find it slightly impossible to believe Kai isn't at least somewhat romantically attracted to Ratri. I mean, even if he admires Ratri as a leader and feels guilt about intially doubting him, I don't think he'd let Ratri coerce him into sex. (Especially since he asked, "Was I good... when I did it?" after Ratri saw the prostitute in v2. XD I smell jealousy~) And while Kai is a bit of a doormat for Ratri, he isn't exactly a pushover; even when Narada was molesting him, he was trying to fight back, but apparently couldn't move? Also, crying Kai is sad. ;_; It absolutely breaks my heart every time he cries.

It's possible that Kai does seem the Ratri's intentions but can't bring himself to believe it? I mean, considering the state of his self-esteem in v2, it's very likely that Kai is afraid to believe that Ratri actually values and appreciates him? *smacks them both* oi, figure it out.

Mmm... I like shower sex. Also, I'm pretty sure they had sex in missionary position v2ch3 in Kai's flashback? It's page 10 of this scan. It's also the page where Kai makes the incredibly adorable uke!expression. *squee* But I do agree, I think they should do it more in that position. It's cute. Though I have to confess, I like Kai sitting in Ratri's lap. I think it's my... favorite position in yaoi. I don't see it quite as much in other works so it's kind of at treat for me? *dies a little on the inside* Okay, enough embarrassing confessions from me.

Yes! More aggressive Kai! ♥ Actually, I'm kind of surprised Kai is a passive lover, considering he used to sleep with Maria. (Maybe Maria was also aggressive, which made him passive? XD) I actually read this very interesting entry by a girl who lived in Japan for a while and was talking about her dating experience (...she said it better, but the entry is locked now, so I can't show you...). She talked about how in Japan, it was socially expected that one partner was active and one was passive, even for two gay males, and to them, it was a learned second nature of sorts. In my opinion, Kai is very traditionally Japanese. Actually, I somehow managed to equate Kai to being Ratri's wife in my mind. Other than being really kick-ass, he is fairly passive, calm, and in a strange sense, almost demure. Yeah. I dunno about this one. So maybe Kai is acting on the expectations of what he grew up with and accepting that "receiving" role?

Also to mention, I think it's incredibly sweet (in a way) that Ratri pulled up the covers for Kai before he left so Kai wouldn't be cold (but of course Kai wakes up...) I think this gesture does indicate that he feels really bad for "throwing Kai to the wolves" as you put it, even though he ends up acting on it anyway.

Well, I don't know what is needed to scanlate a manga, but if CT isn't willing to finish off the volume (which I doubt since they are pretty adamant about dropping licensed titles) how hard would it be to start from scratch and do it yourselves. I suppose you'd need a translator, etc... And then there's the issue of distribution, which is troubling because the title is indeed licensed and a scanlation can be used in lieu of purchasing the available title when it is released (which is why scanlation circles dutifully cease projects upon license announcements). I know you and I will buy the English manga when they come out, I just don't trust the teeming masses of selfish, self-centered and cheap fangirls who feel entitled to free yaoi (especially of this calibre).

Anyway, It's clear that Kai's feelings run far deeper than admiration. The question is in whether he is truly aware of that fact. He only ever talks about his relationship with Ratri as one of wanting to "stand beside him." He clearly acts out of a desire to be with Ratri more intimately and is hurt by the fact that Ratri seeks pleasure with anyone else, even as he deprecates himself. It could be interpreted as Kai's way of being possessive. He wants Ratri to lean on him and to want him, and no one else.

Yes, they do have sex with Kai on the bottom in that chapter flashback, but you'll notice that Ratri is still clothed and technically that doesn't count as "missionary." Let me explain. Ratri usually has sex with Kai in the nude, and this one occurance of this position since v1 ch1 is the exception, which is really odd. Being totally nude for a seme during sex is actually pretty rare among yaoi sex scenes, though Tateno seems rather fond of them. Ratri is a pretty insecure/closed off guy, though he has sex with Kai totally nude from their first encounter. Why wouldn't he have removed all of his clothes before penetrating Kai on this particular occasion? It makes it feel less personal, and that's why I argue against considering the position "missionary."

I think Tateno portrays their sex in the lap position as a show that Kai and Ratri are closer to equals than most yaoi couples. It also affords us a fantastic view. ^_^

I'm not sure Tateno thought with that much detail about Kai's choice of passiveness in sex. It's probably more likely that he wants more from Ratri, but he falls into a passive role because of his sense of not being able to live up to Ratri's level (and his general low self-esteem). Whenever Ratri accepts him in any way (professionally or in the bedroom) you can really see Kai light up, which is sort of his way of knowing he is being acknowledged.

Yes, it is clear Ratri struggled greatly with the decision to hand Kai over for the sake of Saruto and Akatsuki. I have to wonder what was really going through his mind when he decided on "one last night" of passion with him, though thinking about it is heartbreaking...

Well, if you had Kai as a pet, wouldn't you do that sort of thing, too? I know I would, especially knowing just how much Kai really likes it (deep down in a place he won't admit exists openly). ^_^

It's adorable that Kai is shy -- and not violently shy, but just in his own, quiet way. I think I can see why people like Viharn and Ratri like him, for wearing his heart on his sleeve and all.

I'm pretty sure he's just embarassed about the sex? Also, Nozomi and Kai talking about "it" would be hilarious, even if it would never happen.

Yes, I would love to see a crackfic about it: Sex talk between Tateno Alpha ukes. I wrote a crackfic omake like that to one of my Yellow fics a while back, but those were all minor character ukes (and all completely different character types from Nozomi and Kai). I think The Uke Club, Aoi Hitsuji no Yume/Steal Moon Edition would be hilarious.

I would love to see that. I also want to see mother!Nozomi for the crack value, since he said he'd take care of the Soma and Gyokuto. Along with Coyote, they would have the most hilariously dysfunctional families ever.

Well, especially considering those two boys want to grow up and bone Nozomi. I wonder how Coyote feels about that? ^_^

He probably doesn't consider them a threat - yet. But considering how Soma grows up (from the insert at the end of volume 1), he might actually have a challenger.

Also, Soma/Gyukuto could potentially be cute, when they grow up. They're kind of young right now, but...

I think it's a pretty presumed pairing by the end of Steal Moon. Especially considering Tateno goes through the trouble of teasingly showing us what they'll look like whne they get older. It's only a few years away, too, so Coyote needs to watch out! ^_^

Hm, maybe we'll get to see more of them later in AHnY? I'm kind of curious how long this series is going to go. It's quite possible for sensei to leave it in a state of limbo with Maria alive and the "war" with Maina ongoing, but somehow that doesn't seem like a satisfactory ending, and if anything, Tateno-sensei seems to like delivering a conclusive, satisfying ending.

Yes, she does like to wrap things up. My theory is that she will introduce Coyote, maybe have him work with them against Maina a bit and then end AHnY on a "and now Steal Moon happens" note. Whether she chooses to continue the storyline after Steal Moon is less likely as she basically wrapped that one up pretty succinctly (Nozomi and Coyote go off happily ever after and all is well in the city of Akatsuki...). It's essentially how wrapped up Yellow was, even though there was plently open-ended that could have continued. Tateno hasn't written anything that long-running in BL before. She ran KIng of Cards for 9 volumes or something, but that was shojo. She hasn't broken the 4 volume mark with any BL yet and I am curious to see if she will someday (will Karen give her the green light to keep AHnY running past 3 volumes?).

The ending of Steal Moon really bothered me. I thought Yellow was a lot more wrapped up than that, even though Sandfish were still free, but at least Mizuki finally realized she had no chance with Taki and Katsuro seemed to "approve" Goh and Taki's relationship.

Steal Moon's pacing was really off. The first volume was okay, but in the second, it was one plot twist after another (and sometimes more than one in a chapter even.) It's part of what were talking about before, how Ratri and Kai are more interesting than Coyote and Nozomi because of their obvious, if not included, depth. I think if she fleshed out the characters more and made it into a slightly longer story, Steal Moon's ending would've felt a lot better. To me, it felt... ended. Not finished or wrapped up.

It sort of felt like Tateno originally planned the story to be three volumes, but then the publisher made her squeeze it into two, so she had to cut up two volumes worth of content into the second one. The part where Maria and Ratri fake Nozomi's death felt like it should have been an end of volume cliffhanger, especially since it would have meant that Kai's return would have been a volume after his separation from Ratri (there are three weeks of time lapse that we never see or feel in the story!) instead of a couple chapters.
