Lyrics Meme (sort of)
Stolen from
chrysa (with a few amendments):
Basically, last week sucked, a lot. I worked over 60 hours and I desperately need something to lighten the mood. I decided to do this meme, but in light of the fact that my last paycheck came with roughly the equivalent of an extra week's pay in it, overtime I'd honestly rather have NOT done (and for anyone curious, it was over 30 hours--I'm paid biweekly), I decided to spice it up a bit. Instead of simply letting everyone try to guess the songs, I am going to create an incentive...
For every three correct guesses (yes you can go for more than one prize) I will buy you a manga of your choice or a CD of your choice from any of the featured artists in this meme (you may wait for all artists to be revealed to decide) up to $16/item (not including shipping; basically, I wanted people to be able to choose a DMP volume, which are the high end in pricing).
For international and outside the contiguous U.S. f-list friends, the item you choose must be in-stock and available from Amazon.com (no marketplace sellers; because Amazon takes care of customs junk that I don't want to deal with), your location has to be legally shippable to from the U.S. (and obviously, from Amazon) and the item can't contain any particularly graphic or illegal content to ship across borders (to avoid any legal issues). You will also be responsible for paying any customs duties in the destination country to receive the item. If your country has its own Amazon store, I may (at my discretion) order from there instead.
The manga can be any genre (I'm going to guess, though, since the vast majority of my f-list is BL fans, that they will be BL books, but guys outside the US, remember they can't be too graphic) and can be Japanese tankoban, (for U.S. f-list: realize it may take me several weeks to months to get stuff imported--I will probably be using Sasuga for this, so your options will probably be better), but it has to be something IN PRINT (no pulling a, "I want the BeBeautiful release of Kizuna volume 1"). I'm also going to disqualify, even though I'm pretty sure the price cap does that already, things like omnibus editions (items that cost too much to ship, that is). This will be at my discretion. The CD can be any CD from the artists I have listed (under the price cap), and does not need to be an album the song is on.
PLEASE do not cheat and look the songs up by their lyrics (I'll probably get wise to that if you guess too many correctly, anyway). You may guess songs individually or in groups, but keep in mind others may want to play and win a manga, too. If this meme is particularly successful, maybe I'll consider something similar to it to do for one of my active communities *cough
isis_terminalcough*. As I pretty much add anyone to my f-list who adds me, I am going to say you have to be on my f-list to participate (I will check daily and add new folks). I'm confident there won't be any cheating in this way, since I will need mailing addresses for winners (and, seriously, if you want more than one prize, just guess more multiples of three songs correctly). Don't post your mailing address here, I will contact you privately to get it. Oh, and I'm not going to buy 18+ manga for anyone under 18 (but I think you all are, so it's probably not an issue).
Meme Rules:
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song. (Skip the instrumentals, the remixes and the mash-ups.)
Step 3: Let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Amendments:
-In addition to Step 2, I also skipped cover songs, songs where the title was spoken in the first few lines, and most importantly, any song which has had no mainstream exposure whatsoever (so, only songs that were released as singles at some point in their history and actually got airplay). Basically, I want people to win stuff, so I made it easier for you to guess. ^_^
-You don't have to guess in multiples of three. You can "lock in" a guess you know today, and think about the other two you need for another day.
-This meme will stay active for one week, at which time I will reveal any unrevealed songs and close it up, so get your guesses in quickly.
-I will, every day or so at my leisure, add another line or two to any songs not correctly guessed yet, up to the end of the first verse, before the chorus (or where the title of the song is spoken).
-I know there aren't an evenly divisible number of songs on the list, however, I doubt all 20 will be guessed, even with the full verses, though I do have a couple safety choices to add, should some poor bastard get two guesses and needs a bonus round to win a manga/CD.
-Instead of striking out the songs, I will change it to the artist and song information, as well as who guessed correctly, so I can keep track of them.

I recommend Blue Sheep Reverie, which is my new favorite of her titles. I assume you want BL (she does have a licensed shojo series, King of Cards, that is, eh, okay). BSR is going to be a multi-volume series (up through volume 3 in Japan), so the lack of hot BL action in volume 1 can be forgiven (as the first few panels of volume 2 more than make up for it). There is also Steal Moon, which is a sequel of sorts to BSR, starring a different pairing. In fact, for more BSR/SM info you can also join

Still looking for a third, we'll see XD;

I knew I knew that one. Why it took me that long to cycle through it, I don't... oh wait. That would be because I listen to too many similar 80's hair songs. *facepalm*

I'll lock all three in for you right now and add you to the friends list so no one complains.

You can use the handy e-mail address above to send me your request and mailing address. Keep in mind all the little nuances of the rules regarding what you can ask for as a prize.

Yup, emailing now. Already knew what I was going to request anyway *g*
